Overview
Camera redirection allows your Mac camera (built-in or external) to be used inside your V2Cloud remote desktop session.
Because macOS has strict privacy controls, you must grant permissions and configure both macOS and the V2Cloud application for camera redirection to work correctly.
Step 1: Grant Camera Permissions on macOS
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
- Navigate to Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to the Privacy section and click Camera.
- Locate the V2Cloud application in the list.
- Turn the toggle ON to allow V2Cloud access to the camera (it should appear green).
Step 2: Configure Camera in V2Cloud App Settings
- Open the V2Cloud Desktop Application on your Mac.
- Click the Settings icon (usually located at the bottom-left of the window).
- Under camera or redirection settings, select your desired camera (e.g., MacBook camera or external camera).
Enable the option “Always redirect camera when using RDP”.
- Close the settings window.
Step 3: Access and Edit the Default RDP Configuration File
- In the V2Cloud App Settings, click “Open Default RDP parameters…”.
- This opens a Finder window showing the RDP configuration file location.
- This opens a Finder window showing the RDP configuration file location.
- Locate the file named rdp_Default.rdp.
- Open the file using TextEdit:
- Right-click (or Control-click) the file.
- Select Open With > Other…
Choose TextEdit and click Open.
Add the camera redirection line at the bottom of the file:
camerastoredirect:s:*- Save the file:
- Press Command + S or go to File > Save.
- Close TextEdit completely.
Step 4: Restart and Test
- Fully quit the V2Cloud application.
