Overview
If QuickBooks displays an error similar to “Entry point not found”, it is often caused by a corrupted or incompatible system DLL file within the QuickBooks installation directory.
This issue can typically be resolved by replacing the affected DLL file with the correct Windows system version.
Steps
- Log in using the Administrator account.
- Close QuickBooks for all users.
- Navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Intuit\YourQBFolder - Locate the file D3DCompiler_47.dll and rename it to:
D3DCompiler_47.dll.OLD - Copy D3DCompiler_47.dll from:
C:\Windows\System32\ - Paste the copied file into the QuickBooks installation folder:
C:\Program Files\Intuit\YourQBversion\ - Open QuickBooks again.
Notes
- Ensure QuickBooks is completely closed before performing these steps.
- Only replace the DLL file if the error persists and you have confirmed the issue matches “Entry point not found.”
- If multiple users are connected, make sure all QuickBooks sessions are closed before applying changes.
