Private IP Address
A Private / Shared / Dynamic IP address is generally more secure because the Cloud computer operates behind the V2Cloud firewall. All network traffic is filtered through our infrastructure, and the system is not directly accessible from the public internet.
Important Note:
When maintenance is performed or if the Cloud computer is transferred to another server node, the assigned public IP address may change.
Also there is no fixed range of addresses available for the Shared (Private) IPs.
Public IP Address
A Public / Dedicated / Static IP address is less secure since it is exposed to the internet, as it is not protected by the V2Cloud firewall. However, protection is maintained through the Windows Firewall, and only the ports you explicitly choose to open will be accessible. A Dedicated/Static IP address remains consistent and will not change-even during maintenance or when the Cloud computer is moved to another server node.
Important Note:
The Dedicate/Static IP address must be changed if it's required to transfer the Cloud computer to another Data Center.
Common Use Cases
A dedicated public IP is typically used for:
- Web hosting services.
- Scenarios where an IP address must be whitelisted for secure access to specific applications, services, or software.
You can choose the type of IP address (Private or Public) when creating the Cloud computer, in step 4.
