The “Send To” feature in Windows allows you to quickly send files or folders to specific locations (such as a drive, folder, or application) by right-clicking them and choosing Send to. By default, this menu includes items like Desktop, Documents, or compressed (zipped) folders. You can customize it by adding your own folders for faster access.
Step 1: Open the SendTo Folder
- Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
shell:sendto - A File Explorer window will open showing all the current shortcuts in the SendTo menu.
Step 2: Add a Folder Shortcut
- In the SendTo folder, right-click on any blank space.
- Select New → Shortcut.
- Browse to or type the path of the folder you want to add.
- Click Next, then give the shortcut a name (e.g., “Dropbox Folder” or “Shared Drive”).
- Click Finish.
Step 3: Test the New Send To Option
- Right-click any file on your desktop or in File Explorer.
- Hover over Send to.
- You should now see the new folder you added.
- Selecting it will send a copy of the file directly to that folder.
Optional: Remove or Rename Items in the Send To Menu
- To remove an item, simply delete its shortcut from the SendTo folder.
- To rename an item, right-click the shortcut and choose Rename.
✅ With these steps, you can fully customize your Send To menu to include the folders and locations you use most often, making file management much faster.
