How to Verify a VM’s Public IP Address

Overview

The public IP address is the external IP seen by websites and internet services. Verifying it can help troubleshoot network restrictions, connectivity issues, or IP whitelisting requirements.

Steps

1. Sign in to the cloud computer.
2. Open a web browser.
3. Visit one of the following websites:
   • https://whatismyipaddress.com
   • https://whatismyip.com
   • https://ifconfig.me
4. The page will display the VM’s current public IP address.
5. Compare the IP address with any expected or whitelisted IP if applicable.

Notes

• Most cloud computers use a shared public IP address.
• If a dedicated public IP is required, contact your administrator or V2 Cloud Support.
• The public IP address may change if the VM is migrated to a different server node.
