Purpose
This guide explains the necessary NordVPN settings adjustments for V2 Cloud virtual machines to ensure remote access works correctly and incoming connections are not blocked.
Requirements
NordVPN installed on the V2 Cloud VM
Administrator access to the VM
NordVPN logged in with a valid subscription
1. Disable Kill Switch
Open NordVPN → Settings → Kill Switch
Turn Off the Kill Switch
The Kill Switch may block network connections when VPN disconnects, which can interfere with remote access.
2. Disable Split Tunneling
Navigate to Settings → Split Tunneling
Turn Off Split Tunneling
Split Tunneling can prevent some applications or remote connections from using the VPN connection.
3. Allow Remote Access
In Settings, locate Allow Remote Access
Enable this option
This ensures that tools like RDP or other remote access software can connect to the VM while NordVPN is active.
4. Disable Web Protection
Go to Settings → Web Protection
Turn Off Web Protection
Web Protection may block incoming connections and prevent remote users from accessing the VM.
Expected Result
Remote access and incoming connections remain functional while connected to NordVPN
Internet traffic is encrypted and routed securely through the VPN
The VM can be accessed without disruptions caused by NordVPN security features
